A TOUCH OF FREEDOM
Bronze
2004
13" X 11" X 10"
edition 40
This is a fragment from the monument for
the Vicksburg National Military Park. The three man composition
(1 and 1/3 lifesize) had to be cast in 70 different sections,
each with its own mold, and the bronze components welded back
together. Although the completed bronze tribute weighed two
tons, this single hand struck me as a reminder of the intimacy
of the Civil War.
