Dr. Windred L. Wiser arrived at the University of Mississippi Median Center in 1976. Under his leadership, the UMC department of Obstetrics and Gynecology grew to national prominence, committed to quality care for all, dedication to resident training, and research. I completed my training with Dr. Wiser in 1984. This portrait is a reminder of the intense study, training, dedication and pressure under which physicians work every day. This man was committed to improving and providing healthcare to everyone, and that in one of the poorest states in our country.
